Now that WKBW killed itself. Your station is the best in Buffalo. I really appreciate the tremendous selection of oldies that you play.

Kudos to you all. Dan Krull in the morning, do-wap, and the UFO's. Keep up the good work!

Krull gave WJJL and radio a Black eye and is a Lowlife Dirtbag. You guys at WJJL should finish the job of getting all traces of him off this website PRONTO !

I agree that Dan Krull is a lowlife...he used to bring his daughter into the studio for Gods sake. He is a slimeball and should be castrated. They used to vilify that Mark Antony guy for speaking the truth, what about this crumb bum?

How about bringing some of the old KB guys over to your station, now that you're THE oldies station in Western New York - Tom Donahue, John Jarrett, Tom Shue and do I dare mention - Danny - maybe he'd like to at least do some part time work.

I like that you're one of the few locally owned stations left...you don't take orders from some big corporation.

Keep all your current on air folks, but consider bringing on some of the KB guys...and keep playin' the great oldies

I have been listening to WJJL since the late 40s as a kid and think it is one of the best.I like it because they play some of the off the beatin path R&B from the mid 50s.Other oldies stations cater too much to the boomers but not much before.
Since I live midway between W.Seneca and the Falls in the Amherst, Cheektowaga area, I notice as soon as it gets dark, I hardly get the signal and sometimes in the morning this half minute of buzzing static comes on?

Clearly, nobody at the station has looked at this blog since March of 2006! The owners seem to care as much about this blog as they do about the radio station. (When I first tuned in I thought a couple of middle school students were running the place.) Let's see....

Audio quality is pathetic / Also wayyyyy toooo loud...levels may not be legal.

Some of the most sophomoric production values known to man. Actually, middle school students may excel in this department.

Automation computer is clearly left to its own devices. Does what it wants when it wants.

The owners and staff (?) never listen to their product. As evidenced last summer when there was a studio mike left open for hours. When the computer decided to take a nap, the room noise came up loud enough so we could hear the board-op cussing and begging the machine to start up again. An hour later, the mike was still open.

Flagrant and repeated vilolations of FCC rules. Sunday evening (March 4, 2007) at 8:15 P.M. the station was still broadcasting at full daytime power. Checked back at 10:30 P.M. they were still at 1000 watts. (they must turn down to 55 watts at local sunset). They have been fined for this before. They claimed they didn't realise their power had not been dropped. (See no one listening statement above!) Although,I'll bet it was deliberate due to the N.U. game that was on at that time.

They need to sell more time quickly, please....they still have two tower lights out!

The station needs to be purchased by someone that cares about radio and the city of Niagara Falls. The construction permit they filed with the FCC was so they could move the station to the Buffalo market; basically removing themselves from the Falls. This is totally counter-productive as they will fail in Buffalo and it will leave Niagara Falls without a radio station. (BTW: they let their construction permit expire so they will never be able to file another one with the FCC.)

I hope there is somebody out there that is willing to buy out the two clowns and save the station from a slow death.

I love WJJL. I especially love Doc and Dee in the morning. Anyone care about the morning show? These guys are great! They are full of fun and are very unique. Let's give the station some credit here! Where can you here such great oldies on any other station?

when is wjjl going to spend the money on their fcc pending construction permit? maybe if they are not they should relinquish the station to someone who will. at least whld did what they said they were going to do even if their format changed. you can never hope to find a true audience with out a good nightime signal....

I used to listen to wjjl as a kid and loved Tom Darro. It is so sad that this station moved away from the Falls. It is just not the same.

I was on the air in the ealry 70's as Jeff Gill. the station was in the old Hotel Niagara, and it was beautiful! SUCH A STATELY HOTEL! I assume it's gone.

I was 17 when I worked at WJJL with Tom Darro, and Jimmy Thompson, and my longtime pal Joe Chiile. When they moved to Main Street in the Falls the acountics were awful..After a few months we finally got it sounding decent.

Sal Paonessa and Chris Cage got me my first paying job at WHLD playing the religous tapes on Sundays, and it wasn't long before Tom Darro hired me at JJL to do afternoons until signoff. What a fun time that was. Any of these places still left?

Luzi's Dairy Bar?

Del Fredos Restaurant?

Vince Brundo Music?

Honey"s Pizza on Pine Ave?

John's Flaming Hearth?

What a marvelous place to cut my teeth on a business that has given me (an I the business) 37 years of paychecks and great memories. I would be honored to produce some new imaging for the Phillips family if somebody there would give me a call or an e-mail.

I currently own two studios, and would love to hear from other vintage JJL listeners

Just a note to thank you for being the best oldies station on the air! I listen to your station exclusively on my way to work each morning, and on the way home each evening. I have heard recordings on your station that I remember from my childhood, and that I haven't heard since then or on any other station. I'm amazed at your collection. Please stay the way you are! In my opinion, you are the best! Again, thank you.
